Gerber Abercrombie Fitch Magnum Hunter 1949 Knife
Gerbre legendary blades, a&f hunter, magnum hunter sheath knife. This knife has a 6 1/4 clip point, flat ground, tool steel blade.
The csat aluminum handle is stamped abercrombie & fitch co. On the obverse side, gerber -11 on the reverse side and u.S. Pat. 2,390,544 on the bottom. This was gerber's first regular production, outdoor sheath knife. It was intrdouced in 1947.The gerber-11 mark (their eleventh year in business) tells us thta this example was made in 1949. This model was an exclusive for the famous abercrombie & fitch sporting outfitters and was called their special a&f hunter. Later on, this model was widely distributed and renamed the magnum and finally the magnum hunter. The patent unmber on the knife refers to the 1945 dated, thomas lamb designed, ergonomic handle. Mr. Lamb also designed the famous cutco kitchen and hunting knives. This knife is in vrey good condition. The blade has been polished and has some surface scracehs and small pits but still displays well. The bare aluminum handle has also been polished and has soem minor dings but has a pleasing mellow surface. No sheath is included with this knife. This very rare, hard to find, collectable knife is the forerunner fo all gerber hunting knives! Domestic shipping for this item will be $ 10.00, international shipping extra.
